My dog has a thick neck and most collars dig in, but this one sits flat and he doesn't paw at it anymore. The buckle snaps on in one motion, which is a lifesaver when he's already squirming at the door.
The buckle is sturdy enough that my escape-artist terrier hasn't wiggled out once on our evening walks. It's also noticeably softer on his neck than the old nylon collar he used to scratch at.
Swapped my dog off his harness for this on neighborhood walks and he actually seems more relaxed without all the extra strapping. The collar sits flat and doesn't rub, and it's easy to clip the leash on one-handed.
